The Romanian Embassy in Ireland have announced their delight that the Twilight Community Group from Kilkenny have signed an important Charter of Friendship accord with the picturesque town of Beclean in Romania, nestled in the heart of Transylvania.

The Romanian Ambassador, Laurenţiu-Mihai Ştefan, has had the pleasure of witnessing the blossoming of strong ties between Kilkenny and Beclean culminating in this historic agreement between the two communities.

This agreement with Beclean now offers the youth and young adults of both communities the opportunity to travel to Beclean or Kilkenny for one week to a fortnight and experience the culture and community activities.

In addition, The Romanian Embassy would like to extend their 'heartfelt congratulations' to local councillor Andrew McGuinness, who has been bestowed the title of 'Honorary Citizen of Beclean'.
