A young Kilkenny man is one of the tragic victims of the horror crash in Limerick yesterday evening.
He attended the nearby Salesian Agricultural College, where he was described as an exemplary student. He and another young man were killed when the car they were in crashed into a wall on the N69 at Ballyengland at around 7.25pm yesterday.
The driver and a third passenger, who are from Cork and Offaly, were taken by ambulance from the scene to University Hospital Limerick. They are being treated for non-life threatening injuries. All four occupants of the car were in the same course.
Principal of Salesian Agricultural College Derek O'Donoghue told RTE News that staff and students are 'numb'.
"All occupants were not alone students here in Salesian Agricultural College, on the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) Higher Cert in Agricultural Mechanisation course, but were also residential which is an even tighter student body," he said.
"TUS student counselling support services are currently here in the college meeting students and staff."
Speaking on RTÉ's News at One, Mr O'Donoghue said the deaths came as a 'massive shock'.
