Kilkenny dancer Zahra becomes an Irish Dancing World Champion

Kilkenny dancer Zahra Khodabacksh from Kilkenny became a World Champion over the Easter weekend at the World Irish Dancing Championships in Killarney.

Zahra is well-known in Irish dancing circles in Kilkenny and nationwide, recently featuring on Ireland AM in March with Deric Ó h'Artagáin in Rothe House & Garden.

Last year, Zahra took home a world globe placing in the event, finishing third overall in the championship and two world medals - one a gold.

There was also success this year at the competition for young Kilkenny dancer Ella McCormack in the under-11 grade.
