All residents and staff 'accounted for' after fire evacuation in Kilkenny

A fire incident occurred yesterday (Sunday) at St Columba’s Hospital, a community nursing unit in Thomastown, County Kilkenny.

There was a requirement for a phased horizontal evacuation, and that was done effectively and safely and managed by HSE staff. 

There was no threat to life. All residents and staff are safe and accounted for.

The local fire services were onsite promptly, and all fire protection systems within the building worked effectively.

HSE Dublin and South East would like to thank the local fire services and their staff for their work to protect all staff.
