My Lovely Horse Rescue recently had an emergency call about this poor dog (video below) in Kilkenny.

"Thankfully we got him to Southview Veterinary Hospital as quick as possible with the help of Noel from Kilkenny SPCA," a spokesperson said.

"This poor dog was suffering so badly, just heartbreaking. Poor thing is in severe shock, skinny... Our vets put him on fluids, antibiotics and pain relief.

"There's a wound on his neck, maybe from being tied up or attacked. His poor swollen face, the sadness in those eyes."

The rescue are again asking for help covering their vet bills and the costs associated with the work that they do.

They added that it has been worth 'every penny to help this poor defenceless heart broken boy'.

Responding online, may people were enraged and feeling sorry for the dog's plight.

One person commented "Heartbreaking", whilst another said: "What a pitiful sight. Poor love has endured unimaginable cruelty. I hope he can be saved and that his heart is mended."
