A large protest took place in Ballyouskill on Sunday as the local community continues its opposition to the proposed Ballynalacken Wind Farm.
Locals in the area blew their car horns in opposition to the proposed development.
"We collected more submissions in Ballyouskill hall and Ballinakill hall afterwards, a lot of petition sheets were also handed in and although the signatures haven’t been counted yet we are confident that there’s approximately 1,000 names on our petition already," organisers of the protest posted to social media.
Organisers held a public meeting will take place in the CYMS Hall in Ballyragget on Monday night.
Meanwhile, Independent, Cllr Maurice Shortall has called on Kilkenny County Council ask the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, James Browne to publish an update of the planning guidelines for wind turbine development.
"This has been held in reserve since 2006 and has been a divisive matter in communities across the country and needs to be published now not only for the benefit of Kilkenny but for the benefit of the entire country," the North Kilkenny councillor said.
