The Kilkenny Roads Policing Unit were forced to take swift action on Monday afternoon as a local driver attempted to avoid the consequences of the law.
Local gardaí were carrying out a checkpoint at the link road to the M9 at Templemartin when a person driving a silver 12 registered Golf was spotted pulling in. It transpired, a short time later that her reluctance to meet the checkpoint was due to having no valid insurance, NCT or tax.
"The car then refused to stop and drove towards traffic exiting the motorway," a garda spokesperson posted to social media.

"The consequences could have been horrendous but thankfully she was intercepted safely. The motorist was arrested and later charged to Kilkenny District Court where the Judge will decide on the consequences.
"You may have captured the driving of the vehicle on the wrong side of the road on your dash cam, if so please contact us on 056 7775000," the post added.
"Separately another driver was arrested for drink driving later in the afternoon."
