A 60-acre block of farmland at Ballynagall, Ballickmoyler, Co Laois was sold for a combined total of €1.5 million in a public auction held on Friday, June 6.
Auctioneer Joe Coogan conducted the sale at his auction room in Ballycomey House, Castlecomer, Co Kilkenny, drawing what was described as a large crowd with several "very active bidders" for each lot.

The land was divided into four separate parcels:
A 5.481-acre field sold for €190,000, fetching €36,651 per acre.
An old single-storey farmhouse and 34.083 acres sold for €940,000, or €27,580 per acre.
A 9.723-acre field reached €221,000, averaging €22,730 per acre.

The final 10.91-acre lot went for €240,000, equating to €22,240 per acre.
Mr Coogan confirmed that further land auctions are scheduled in the coming months, all to be held at 3pm on Fridays at the Castlecomer venue.
