Safety works in Callan and Thomastown have been funded
Funding for a Low Cost Road Safety Schemes at Westcourt in Callan and Chapel Hill in Thomastown have been welcomed.
Westcourt
Under the scheme the road will see the installation of driver feedback signs, road markings and signage.
Describing the road as “an extremely busy spot” where there was a fatality in the past, Cllr Deirdre Cullen said she is delighted the funding has been secured.
Cllr Cullen thanked local residents for bringing their safety concerns to her attention. The safety scheme measures will be a huge improvement for road users in the area, she said.
Chapel Hill
Safety improvement works will also be carried out at the junction at Chapel Hill in Thomastown.
Funding for a Low Cost Safety Scheme here comes following a meeting between Cllr Cullen, local residents and the area engineer, on-site.
"It's great to see this has secured funding," Cllr Cullen said. There was little or no visibility at the junction and it's great safety work will now go ahead, she added. People will be delighted to hear about it.
