Motorists travelling through Kilkenny are being advised to plan ahead as a section of road between Sevenhouses and Danesfort will be closed on two days to facilitate roadworks.

Kilkenny County Council said the closure will affect the L1016 at Sevenhouses and the L4200 at Dundaryark, from the junction of the L1016 with the R697 at Sevenhouses to the L4200 junction with the N10 at Danesfort Hurling Club.

The road will be closed to vehicular traffic from 7am to 7pm on Friday, July 31, and Tuesday, August 4, with local diversions in place and clearly signposted.

The council said local access will be maintained where practical while works are underway, although delays are likely.

Motorists are also advised that the works are weather dependent and may be subject to change.

Kilkenny County Council thanked road users for their cooperation and apologised for any inconvenience caused.
