Ballyfoyle Agricultural Show rounded off a very successful year with their recent donations night at Newpark Hotel.  A total of €20,000 was raised for charity.

The worthy recipients were the Carlow/Kilkenny Home Care Team, Castlecomer Day Care Centre, Cois Nore, Cancer Trials Ireland , Gavin Glynn Foundation, Coon Senior Citizens, Ballyfoyle Senior Citizens, Ballyfoyle Community Hall Restoration Fund, Mother of Fair Love National School, Muckalee Ladies Football Club and Protecting Dog Pounds Ltd.

Chairperson Ann Callanan thanked the local landowners for the wonderful setting in Ballyfoyle. The many sponsors were acknowledged for their generosity and the vital role they play in supporting the show.

Kilkenny County Council and the Department of Rural and Community Development were also thanked for their commitment to developing agricultural shows both on a national and local level.

Central to the show’s success was the excellent media coverage which provided a most important advertisement platform for the show. Undoubtedly, to run a show of this size the whole community is involved, from local sporting clubs to the Ladies’ Club, who gave great support to the committee.

This year also saw a fantastic number of families visit on the day to enjoy a chat and the atmosphere. The show definitely offered something for everyone. Showcasing the best of equine showing and show jumping classes along with a dog show, Macra and vintage display,  trade stands , food village, baking and art & craft competitions. New this year were the sheep showing classes.
