Noel Kehoe RIP
It was with deep regret that we heard of the passing of Noel Kehoe.
Noel was well known and held in high esteem in the boxing world.
He was a founder member and coach of Clara Boxing Club in 1977. They moved to Kilkenny and formed the Marble City Boxing Club in the Good Shepherd Centre. More recently the club gained a permanent home when they moved into what was the old James Stephens swimming pool.
A soft-spoken gentleman Noel served as President of Leinster Council. He also held several officer positions in Laois/Kilkenny/Carlow County Board and only recently retired a Treasurer.
In the interest of promoting the sport of boxing he supported all the clubs and acted as team manager on trips for county, Leinster and Irish teams.
Noel was honoured for his service to boxing by the IABA, Leinster and the County Boards. A great boxing family, he was supported by his wife Dolores and his sons Ross and Willie-John and later his grandsons Noel, Garry, Kevin, and Jim.
Our condolences to his wife, sons and daughter, grandsons and granddaughter and extended family.
Ollie O’Neill, PRO Laois/Kilkenny/Carlow Boxing Board.
