A large track of land which extended to 23.33 hectares along with a bungalow and some outbuildings located at Muckalee in County Kilkenny recently generated significant interest at auction.
It was successfully sold last Friday under the hammer of Ed Donohoe, Donohoe Town and Country, who reported that there was 'a large demand and four bidders in a packed auction room' in the Clubhouse Hotel.
The property comprised of a derelict bungalow with some outbuildings and c. 23.33 hectares of agricultural land which had been neglected and required certain works to bring it back to its former glory.
"There was a number of both local and outside people who had expressed interest in the land," Donohoe said.

Four different bidders managed to raise their hands in a lively auction which had a 'very satisfactory result'.

Bidding opened at €500,000 and quickly went up to €850,000 where Mr Donohoe consulted with the vendors.
The property was then put on the market with one further bid of €10,000 to finally secure the land holding.

The property was bought by somebody who intends to do up the bungalow and move into the farm and carry out essential works to the lands.
Donohoe added that he has some disappointed underbidders and would love to talk anybody who may be considering a small parcel of land.
