One of Kilkenny’s historic landmarks became a hub for global tax technology as local company Fintua welcomed indirect tax leaders from across Europe to ELEVATE 2026 at the Medieval Mile Museum.
The one-day conference, also streamed online, showcased Kilkenny as a growing centre for financial technology and professional services. Kilkenny-based Fintua, which specialises in simplifying global indirect tax through automation, designed ELEVATE as an annual community event to bring tax professionals, technology experts and regulators together. The company’s roots in the region go back to its Taxback International heritage, and many visiting delegates took the opportunity to explore the city and its hospitality during their stay.

Speakers explored how upcoming European and Irish eInvoicing mandates will affect businesses of all sizes and what local and international companies need to do now to prepare. Panels also examined the role of AI and automation in managing VAT, as well as the practical realities of implementing ViDA and other digital reporting regimes.
Participants came from leading global brands in technology, manufacturing and ecommerce, along with Irish tax officials and advisors, underlining the strategic importance of Kilkenny’s role in the future of European tax compliance. ELEVATE also offered CPD credits, supporting the professional development of local and visiting tax and finance professionals.
