A student from Gowran, County Kilkenny, has won silver at a prestigious national culinary competition.

Lauren McCormack, who studies at Shannon College of Hotel Management, claimed the silver medal in the Irish Fish Filleting Larder Skills and Cookery Competition at CATEX 2025.

The competition, held at Ireland’s largest food service and hospitality event, provides a platform for emerging culinary talent and attracts thousands of industry professionals each year.
