Churchill pupil Johnny Heffernan had a day he'll never forget earlier this week

Little Blue Heroes is an Irish charity run by volunteers, including Garda members, that supports families of children with serious illnesses through practical and financial support.

Johnny, a hugely popular pupil in Churchill National School, squeezed a lot into the afternoon both on and off garda duty.

Johnny was invited onto the local airwaves, where he met his two favourite dancers, Eric Roberts and Caitlyn Cummins from Dancing with the Stars! Johnny was also joined in studio by his proud sisters Katie and Molly, making the moment even more special.

To finish the day in style, Honorary Garda Johnny instructed his new Garda colleagues to blue-light escort him to Churchill National School, where he received an incredible guard of honour from the entire school community on arrival.

"What an unforgettable welcome!, Little Blue Heroes posted to social media.

"A huge thank you to KCLR, especially Brian Redmond, and to Churchill National School, with the assistance of Principal Mr Mark Bergin, for helping to make Johnny’s day so special.

"We would also like to thank Little Blue Heroes representative Lisa Mullins for her support on the day, and the Gardaí at Kilkenny Garda Station who helped make this experience so memorable for Johnny and his family," the post continued.

"Moments like these remind us of the power of community and the joy that our Little Blue Heroes bring to everyone they meet."
