Kilkenny club returns to domestic football with a win

Fort Rangers are back in Kilkenny & District League football and back with a victory.

After the well documented disappointment of last season, Fort are back competing in local football and will have two junior teams for the coming season.

The A team, under the management of Emmet Nugent and his assistants Paddy Cahill and Jim Nugent got the season off to a flying start last Sunday with a thrilling 3-2 Maher Shield win away to the Lions in Durrow.

Two goals from Eddie Nugent and a debut goal from Paddy Cahill gave the locals a deserved victory and earned them a last 16 tie away to East End United.

Kick-off in Bennettsbridge is at 11am on Sunday.

Team - Kevin Duncan, Garry Gleeson, Dion Fitzpatrick (capt), Robbie Hayes, Donagh Carney, Robbie McCarthy, Chris Phelan, Eddie Nugent, Paddy Cahill, Stephen McKenna, Ryan Maguire. Subs: Tony Moran, Billy O’Shaughnessy, David Shore.
