Fr Brian Flynn, Ballinearla, Kilmacow, was known for his kindness, his humility and his homilies

Fr Brian - A poem

Humble, gentle, generous, kind
Wholesome person springs to mind
Practicing Christianity every day
Showing us the one true way

Parables and stories, true to life
Help us cope with struggles and strife
Gentle encouragement, a little praise
In difficult times, spirits raise.

Good communicator, aged with grace
Huge contribution to our race
Generous with other points of view
Open mind to all that’s new

Parish concert, a special treat
Opportune time to meet and greet
It’s the way I tell ‘em bring the house down
Fun-filled sing-a-long, voices drown

Simple pleasures, golf and car
Visiting friends near and far
Unassuming, less is more
Interesting conversation to the fore

Hours spent in silent prayer
Intentions to God, laid bare
The sick, poor and lonely, top the list
Champion of the underdog, get my gist

Kilmacow Church, high steeple
Fr Brian, Priest of the people
Life’s trivial trappings ring hollow
Fr Brian’s philosophy the one to follow
