Floodlights in UPMC Nowlan Park in the future?

The possibility of floodlighting being installed in UPMC Nowlan Park at some stage in the future has again come up for discussion.

As well as being mentioned in Phil Hogan’s Kilkenny GAA Corporate Plan 2024-2030 as a location that could bring energy and excitement through night games, it was also mentioned at the county convention.

The example of last January’s Walsh Cup clash against Wexford where the new floodlights were officially launched in Wexford Park certainly gives food for thought as to whether it would be feasible in Kilkenny in the future.

As the county secretary Seamus Reade said in his report, ‘with the condensed inter-county season and TV coverage dictating starting times, it’s a subject that needs to be seriously considered’.
