Sporting legends hoping for a par-fect day at famed Kilkenny golf course

A galaxy of stars from the worlds of sports and entertainment will descend on Kilkenny for the OFX Irish Legends competition.

The 2025 event, which will be held at Mount Juliet from May 15 to 17, promises to be a great event as the legends of the game will look to claim Adilson Da Silva’s 2024 crown.

Last year’s event featured legendary golfers Angel Cabrera, Peter Baker and Ian Woosnam - and this year promises to be just as exciting. The field will once again include major champions, former Ryder Cup players and past champions from both the PGA Tour and DP World Tour.

The event will kick off on Wednesday, May 14 with a celebrity pro-am, where stars including Robbie Fowler, Teddy Sheringham and more icons to be revealed, will have the chance to showcase their golfing talents.

Formerly known as the European Senior Tour and the Staysure Tour, the Legends Tour is the men’s professional golf tour for members aged 50 and older. Five years after the first edition of The Senior Open, won by Neil Coles in 1987, more than 60 professionals called for a formally structured Tour, which was then created in 1992. Many of the pioneering champions who played on the European Tour during the 1970s, '80s and '90s make up the Legends Tour’s active membership.

The championship course at Mount Juliet Estate was designed by Jack Nicklaus and stretches up to 7,200 yards across 180 acres of land. The course provides players with plenty of challenges to avoid with five lakes, which come into play on six holes, and 80 bunkers which are strategically placed around the course. The event will be a great day out for all of the family where you can watch the Legends of the game compete for the title.
