Kilkenny SHL: champions Dicksboro get back to winning ways

Bill Sheehan scored 2-2 for Dicksboro

Double champions, Dicksboro, got back to winning ways after a poor showing last weekend when they proved much too good for intermediate champions, St Patrick's (Ballyragget) in the Kilkenny senior hurling league in Freshford this evening.
Defeat was bad enough for St Pat's, but they also lost their star attacker, Kevin Kelly, who retired injured in the 36th minute when the hamstring injury that caused him so much trouble in the past gave way again. He must be a serious double for the next round of games in two weeks time.
By that stage it was game over anyway, with Dicksboro leading by 2-14 to 0-10.
The winners, who were backed by the stiff breeze, were in good form from the throw-in. A 12th minute goal from Kevin Kenny gave them a 1-5 to 0-3 lead and allowed them settle and play with absolute freedom.
A second goal from Bill Sheehan just on the break left them 2-13 to 0-8 in front at half-time.
Kelly contributed two early points for St Pat's in the new half before he was struck down by injury. When the 'Boro had a third goal from Bill Sheehan in the 42nd minute (3-15 to 0-11) it was game over after that.
SCORERS: Dicksboro - Shane Stapleton (0-12); Bill Sheehan (2-2); Kevin Kenny (1-1); Ollie Walsh (0-2); Robbie Murphy,Oisin Gough (0-1 each). St Patrick's - Kevin Kelly (0-6); Joe Brennan (1-1); Michael Brennan, Brian 'Brook' Phelan (0-3 each).
