A date for all diaries for members of Callan golf club is that for a three person team event, any combination, to fund ongoing works in the club.
It will be played on October 5, 6 and 7. Entry is €15 per person or 4€5 per team. Check the time sheet for available times.
Last weekend the club hosted the annual Mount Carmel Classic. It was very well supported.
The winnerse were Glenn Wilson, Joe Kavanagh, Jim Kehoe and Joe Pollard with 102 points.

LADIES SINGLES: In the ladies 18 singles competition, the winner of Category 1 was Rita O’Neill with 34 points.
The winner of Category 2 was Jo Staunton with 32 points. The winner of Category 3 was Breda O’Brien with 30 points.
In the 9 hole competition Phil Mahoney won with 19 points and Anne Phelan was second with 17 points.
LOTTO: In the Lotto the numbers drawn were 3, 11, 17. There was no winner. The €30 prizes went to Lucy Donovan, Ettie Power and Jim Kirby.
The sellers were Joe Cuddihy and John Kirwan. Next week’s jackpot will be €1,050.
Gowran Park have launched a membership drive for 2019 with fantastic offers in all category categories.
The rate is €600 for full membership; €435 for under 30s’ and €510 for seniors, (70+), excluding levies.
The offer is from from September to January 2019. This offer closes on October 31.
The 2019 golf membership series commences on Monday. It will be an Open singles competition every week, Monday to Friday, through October.
The top three qualifiers each week will go forward to the final on Friday, November 2.
First prize will be free membership for 2019 or a 43” LED TV. Second prize is a 32” Smart TV and third prize is a Samsung tablet.

CHARITY: The ladies club are hosting an Open charity event in memory of the late Ann Murphy. It will be on Sunday, October 21 with a shotgun start (11am).
The competition format will be a three person Scramble (at least one lady per team). The eentry fee is €30 per team.

Wexford golf club welcomed the mid-Leinster Women’s Championship to their club recently.
The Junior Championships started with an 18 hole qualifier, with the top 16 gross players going through to a knock-out matchplay competition.
Marie Burford played against local member, Louise Boshoff, in the final round in windy conditions. Marie played fantastic golf and won comfortably on the 14th hole to take home the mid-Leinster Women’s Cup.
Congratulations go to the ladies who took home the Borris Awards Trophy this week, which was a great end to the season.

The ‘Shorten Your Short Game’ programme will be back by popular demand. This will be run over eight weeks to include five short game lessons and a weekly competition.
It will commence in early October. Leave names in the Pro Shop if interest.
