'Tragedy averted' - Kilkenny boys in flip-flops on a scrambler late at night

Two young boys dangerously travelling on a scrambler bike in Kilkenny late at night
An Garda Siochana in Kilkenny have reported an incident which occurred recently where two young boys were spotted travelling on a motorbike.
Gardai said that a 15-year-old boy was driving a small scrambler bike on Bateman Quay at 10.30pm on Wednesday July 22.
The young teen was also carrying a nine-year-old boy as a pillion passenger on the bike.
The bike had no lights on and they weren’t wearing a helmet.
They were wearing shorts and flip flops and the gardai called it a near tragedy.
The vehicle was seized under Section109a RTA and to be destroyed.
“Obviously a serious follow up with Tusla also. Tragedy averted,” gardai said on a post on Facebook.
“There doesn't seem to any parental control anymore, they just allow kids to do what they want when they want to. See it where we live, kids of five and six walking around at 11.30pm.
“I feel old writing it, but we were in by 6pm in the winter and 8pm in the summer, and that was only from our own garden, not wondering around a town or city,” a social media user said under gardai’s post.
Another person said: “ Brilliant work. These things have become the scourge of society. Well done”.
“Shocking how reckless some people can be with kids' lives, thanks for keeping us updated,” another person said.
