A cold few days are expected across County Kilkenny

ALERT: Kilkenny issued with severe weather warning by Met Eireann

A status yellow weather warning for ice and low temperatures is currently in place for County Kilkenny as temperatures dropped below 0°C overnight.

The county woke up to widespread frost and icy stretches this morning (Wednesday) which has led to hazardous driving conditions.

The warning, issued by Met Eireann, is in operation until 10am.

Separately, a status yellow warning for snow and ice will be in operation for County Kilkenny from 9pm tonight until 12pm tomorrow (Thursday) with yet more hazardous driving conditions expected.

"Pedestrians, cyclists and motorists are advised to take extreme care on any journeys while these conditions persist and to be mindful of vulnerable road users," a spokesperson for Kilkenny County Council said.
