BREAKING: Closures announced as river bursts its banks in Callan - Kilkenny Live

Kilkenny County Council have announced Bridge Street and the KCAT car park in Callan have closed until further notice after the King's River burst its banks this morning (Tuesday).

The public have been asked to avoid the area if possible and to plan extra travel time and reduce speed.

A Status Yellow wind and rain warning issued by Met Eireann remains in place for County Kilkenny as Storm Chandra hits much of the country.

The warning will remain in place until 11pm this evening (Tuesday) with forecasters highlighting the risk of flooding as rain continues through much of the day.

Winds associated with Storm Chandra are expected to be “very strong and gusty”, particularly along exposed and coastal areas. - READ MORE HERE
