According to some weather models, it's set to get a whole lot colder towards the end of this week and into next week as temperatures look set to drop below zero at night from this Saturday.
Sudden drops in temperature seem to have led many to believe that some snowy weather is on the way, but Carlow weather guru Alan O'Reilly recently explained some of the complications of long-range forecasts.
"As many of you will know the weather models are often wrong a few days out," he told followers.
“Might be worth checking the oil tank anyway as we head into winter but I’m keeping a close eye and will keep you updated as best I can," he said.
In their forecast up to December 4, Met Éireann say it looks like we will end November on a much drier note than of late, as high pressure looks to be the dominant influence over our weather.
This could trigger freezing temperatures at night towards the end of the week, but that remains to be seen.
