Everything from history to biodiversity is on the agenda for this year’s Science Week event at Kilkenny Castle!
Science enthusiasts of all ages are invited to join Teagasc for exploration and discovery for Science Week, from November 9 to19.
Teagasc has lined up events that promise to captivate the curious minds of children, teenagers, and adults alike, including the popular ‘Trails and Tails’ walk in Kilkenny.
Teagasc’s Michael Somers and Catherine Keena will bring a group on a looped walk of the park, where they will find out all about everything from forestry and history to biodiversity.
Trails and Tales takes place on Saturday, November 18. Meet in the Castle Courtyard at 1:45pm. The tour starts promptly at 2pm. Booking in advance on https://teagascevents.clr.events/
Educating and inspiring
Teagasc research centres are opening their doors to students, from primary and secondary levels, to highlight the work they do in agriculture and food research. Attendees will get to try out many hands-on experimental activities.
At the National Botanic Gardens ‘Teagasc College of Amenity Horticulture,’ find out all about future career prospects and placement opportunities for students in the wonderful world of horticulture.
Students will get the chance to freely ask questions and discover what it is like to work in science.
Eimear Ferguson, Science Communication and Engagement Officer explains: “During Science Week, our main focus is on educating and inspiring the next generation of scientists.”
For those who prefer to explore science as a family, Teagasc have an interactive family-friendly event at the Marina Market, Cork City. From captivating demonstrations to thrilling experiments, the weekend event promises an unforgettable experience that the whole family can enjoy together.
