The Lions Club annual duck race will take place on Sunday, May 25.

The proceeds will go to the Mother of Fair Love Special School, James Street, Kilkenny. The race will commence at 2pm from the Lady Desart Pedestrian Bridge and will finish at Johns Bridge — a distance of around 200 metres.

Over 700 plastic ducks will be launched into the river by the Cathaoirleach of Kilkenny County Council, Mayor of Kilkenny, the President of the Lions Club and a representative from the Mother of Fair Love School.

George Candler will do a live commentary of the race in his usual jovial manner and there will be prizes for the first three ducks past the line. All the ducks will be collected from the river by young members from the Kilkenny Aqua Canoe Club.

Maeve O'Flynn Lions project leader encourages people to purchase a duck and also to come along to view the race which should be a great spectacle. You can purchase a duck for €5 through the Lions Club website.
