Unique event to take place at Kilkenny cathedral this weekend

Bring your ripe fruit along to the St Canice's Cathedral on Saturday morning

Fruit pressing event to take place at St Canice’s Cathedral this weekend

St Canice’s Cathedral is delighted to invite the community to a fruit pressing morning on Saturday, September 13 from 10am to 1pm.

This year’s apple harvest has been particularly abundant thanks to a warm and dry spring that encouraged strong pollination, excellent fruit set and healthy growth throughout the season.

To celebrate, the organisers are welcoming friends, families and neighbours to come together and turn this year’s harvest into fresh juice.

If you have baskets of apples or ripe pears, bring them along together with containers and watch as your fruit is pressed and transformed into delicious juice.

This free community event is an opportunity to share in the harvest and enjoy the orchard. Volunteers from the Fruit Tree Project Kilkenny will be on hand to answer your questions about planting, caring for fruit trees and reducing food waste.

Although the event is free to attend, donations will be gratefully accepted on the day in support of a local charity chosen by the Fruit Tree Project.

All are invited to come along, bring your fruit and join a morning of community, learning and celebration of the harvest.
