Concern has been expressed over recent incidents of anti-social behaviour in the Bellfield area of Ferrybank in South Kilkenny.

The matter was raised by Cllr Fidelis Doherty under 'any other business' at this week's meeting of the elected members of Piltown Municipal District.

Cllr Doherty stated that 'houses are being targeted' in the area and raised concerns over anti-social behaviour at a nearby railway bridge that borders the site.

Director of Services, Sean McKeown, confirmed that residents have been engaging with the local authority in relation to the 'escalation' of anti-social behaviour in the area.

"Ultimately, it's an issue for gardaí," he said.

It was raised that a Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) could be conducted in a bid to facilitate CCTV in the area.

It is also hoped that future local area plans will offer an opportunity to put a case forward for improving lighting and public access to the area and that such measures would both deter anti-social behaviour whilst maintaining 'right of way' access.
