Ground broken on exciting and much-needed development in Kilkenny

Amber Women's Refuge are excited to share the news that the latest building project to increase their capacity to provide services to women and children is now underway.

This new building will house their counselling and therapeutic services in a purpose-built space separate to the main refuge building.

This means that women attending counselling and children attending art and play therapy will no longer have to access these services in shared spaces which were not designed for them.

"We'll keep you posted on progress over the coming weeks and months," an Amber spokesperson said.

"This project has been made possible with the support of funding from Kilkenny LEADER Partnership under the LEADER Programme.

"It represents Phase I of the project to develop the exterior space at the refuge, which will also include the redevelopment of our garden.

"Phase II, the creation of a Sensory Garden, kindly supported by St. Canice's Credit Union & Phase III, the upgrading of the playground, supported by AIB Community Fund, will commence in late 2024."
