Uptake of new broadband services across mid-Kilkenny are higher than the national average under the National Broadband Scheme, according to Kilkenny County Council’s Internet Services officer Steve Coverdale.

In a presentation to the councillors of Callan Thomastown Municipal District, Mr Coverdale updated them on the progress of the project.
In Kilkenny 58% of the work has been completed and there is a 32% uptake of the service, higher than the national average of 25%.

Rollout
Mr Coverdale predicted it could be a further 18 months before the service is rolled out to all parts of the municipal district, with areas like The Rower many months away from works.

He suggested anyone curious about when broadband will be available in their area under the National Broadband Scheme go to the website nbi.ie where they can input their Eircode and see when work will be done.
