July marked a proud new chapter in the life of Sian Moloughney and her family as the Wexford native was bestowed with the honour of becoming the President of the Kilkenny Rotary Club, succeeding Terry Foley in the post.
The local club began in 1979 and is an active group of professional men and women who use their skills to give back to the community.
Ms Moloughney has become a familiar figure in Kilkenny life over the past number of years in the pages of this publication.
Hailing from Wexford, she has been a journalist with the Kilkenny People/Iconic Media group for more than two decades.

A graduate of University College of Dublin (UCD) and the University of Galway, the local reporter holds vast experience in the industry, with her work recognised on the local and national stage.
"Our club plans for this year are a nice mix of projects we’re well versed at running, that are successful for us, and also a few new projects I’m proposing," Moloughney commented upon her election.
"I think all members will find something they’ll enjoy being involved in."
The committee for the new term will also feature Fergus Murray, Mark Mullaney, Mary Barry, Joe Mulhall, Roisin McQuillan and Elaine O’Dwyer.
"I know this is a great group of people who will support, advise and work together,” Ms Moloughney added. “I know we’ll achieve good things along the way."
During her address, a wide range of exciting new projects were outlined as well as the continuation of a number of successful projects currently in progress with the Kilkenny Rotary Club.
In recent years, the group have run the Kilkenny Youth Leadership Awards, to celebrate the great and at times unseen work of young people in our locality, a celebratory project deeply treasured by everyone involved.
Elsewhere, more guest speakers are in the pipeline during the 2025-26 tenure, and from a wide range of areas.
Furthermore, the club is relishing the prospect of hosting a special International Women Day’s event as well as the Regional Youth Leadership Finals. The latter will be held at the Club House Hotel in the city centre with finalists from Wicklow, Wexford, Waterford, Tipperary and Carlow due Noreside later this year.
"I know we’re not here for praise, to be told we’re great, but I do think we need to do a bit more shouting about these things," Ms Moloughney continued.
"So many people have no idea what Rotary is, and that’s a shame here in Kilkenny where the club is approaching the 50th anniversary.
"Obviously sharing the news with an audience is my profession, so I’ll keep that in mind with all these projects during the year with the hope that we reach more people and attract more people."
