Piltown Community Alert Meeting - There will be a Piltown Communtiy Alert meeting in the GAA Complex , Wednesday, April 3rd. All are welcome from Templeorum and Piltown. Special speakers will address the meeting regarding setting up a “texting alert” etc.

Bingo - Bingo in Piltown Community Centre on Wed 27th - €1,500 grand prize plus many side prizes.

Facilitated Support Group - There is a facilitated Support Group for carers of people with Alzheimers/Dementia, providing a safe space for information exchange, emotional & practical support & the opportunity to network with other carers in similar positions. Location: Alzheimer Day Care Centre, 1 Fr Walsh Close, Cootes Lane, Kilkenny (Behind ‘The Village Inn’). Next Meeting time 4pm - 5.30pm on Wed, 27th March. For more info contact Ruth (056)7771230.

Piltown Children’s Basketball Club - Basketball training takes place every Friday evening in the Community Centre for Under 10’s, Under 12 Girls & Under 14 Boys. Under 10 training for both boys & girls takes place from 6-7pm. Under 12 Girls training takes place from 7-8pm & under 14 Boys training takes place from 8-9pm. €2 per week. Everyone welcome.

Signed Kilkenny Jersey Raffle for Katie’s Wish To Walk - Antonia Power would like to thank everyone who supported this raffle especially Majella Doyle for selling and distributing a number of raffle cards. A total of €372.00 was raised & the winner of the jersey was Richard and Lucy Melbourne.

The Lonergan Family are heading to Missouri on March 28th. We are delighted to be in this position and want to thank everybody who helped in any way to get us to this stage. We launched Katie’s Wish to Walk campaign at the end of December & thanks to the kindness and generosity of everybody, €85,000 has been raised. Keep Piltown Tidy - A very successful evening hosted by “Keep Piltown Tidy” was held on Thursday, March 7th at 8pm in Anthony’s Inn at short notice.

A most interesting and informative video of 1990 was viewed by those present. It was the culmination of a very successful year in the calendar of Keep Piltown Tidy.

A presentation was given by Paddy Walsh. The presentation reviewed the work of 25 years of KPT in the Piltown area.

Today thanks to the dedication of all those who participated in Keep Piltown Tidy during it’s incubation, Piltown is an attractive village with commanding entrance & exits to its environs. Notice the tree plantations, flower beds, the landscaping at the Tower, The Bottle Bank, Colfer’s Corner, the Community Centre Landscaping & flower boxes, tree & landscaping by “Kilkenny Water”, the pump at Anthony’s Bar, Stoney Bridge, tree planting by the College field from the school to the College gates.

Particular tributes were paid to Anne Blackmore among others for her contribution while a County Councillor in negotiating with Kilkenny Co. Council for grants etc. Paddy sincerely thanked Brendan O’Brien, Anthony Cooney & Pauline Giles for their commitment to Keep Piltown Tidy.

A “Spring Clean Up” will be held shortly to rid the Village of the scourge of litter from various areas. Spring is not the only time the village should be cleaned. Every citizen should actively participate by cleaning their own patch & a little on either side of their own property.

Keep Piltown Tidy acknowledges the enormous contribution of Fás & LEADER over the years, without whose help the various projects could not be completed.

GAA Fixtures - All County Junior Hurling League, Piltown v Mooncoin will now take place at Piltown on Thursday 28th March at 7.30 p.m.

Intermediate Football Championship Semi Final, Piltown v Ballyhale Shamrocks will take place in Hugginstown on Saturday 30th March at 3.00 p.m.
