The Kilkenny Road in Carlow Town passes the Carlow Campus of South East Technological University (SETU)
Councillors in Carlow have stimulated intense debate in recent days with their proposal to change the name of 'Kilkenny Road' in Carlow Town to 'University Road'.
A motion was recently passed by the Council to commence the renaming process of Kilkenny Road.
Ultimately, it will be people who live on the road who will have the final say once the proposal goes out to public consultation.
The proposal is driven by the idea of highlighting the new university status of the Carlow Campus of South East Technological University (SETU).
