Mullinavat and Muckalee open up their provincial campaigns on Saturday and Sunday
After the conclusion of the Kilkenny hurling championship, attention will turn to the Gaelic Football side with Mullinavat and Muckalee in Leinster action over the weekend.
Mullinavat won an eight senior football title in 10 years when defeating Tullogher Rosbercon in the decider back in May with the 1-15 to 0-11 success in Nowlan Park assuring them of a Leinster tie with Meath Intermediate champions Duleek-Bellewstown on Sunday.
The South Kilkenny outfit previously reached the Leinster Intermediate Final in 2019 and they kick off this year’s campaign with the game taking place in Callan for a 1.30pm start.
24 hours earlier, Kilkenny Intermediate football winners Muckalee make their bow in the junior grade as they travel to Kildare to take on St Kevin’s.
Muckalee got to this stage on the back of wins over Rower Inistioge and Piltown but they face a difficult challenge away from home for a 2.30pm throw-in at Manguard Park.
