The Thomastown and Graigue Ballycallan round 4 clash ended all square last week

The final round in the St Canice’s Credit Union Senior Hurling League takes place this Saturday but the dust is still settling on a controversial moment in one of last week’s games.

The Group A game between Thomastown and Graigue-Ballycallan was deemed a draw by match official Eoin Maher but that didn’t appear to tally with those in attendance - or the video footage on offer - as it looked like Thomastown were awarded one extra point.

The incident occured when the referee had the scoreboard changed in John Locke Park to his recorded scoreline during the half-time break of last Thursday’s league affair, much to the confusion of those in attendance and as a result Graigue-Ballycallan requested a review of the game with the Kilkenny CCC meeting last Monday to discuss matters.

The result has since been confirmed with the referee along with his match offials recording the same score so it all means that both clubs are locked on the same points going into the final round of games.

A similar incident happened four years ago when Tullaroan and Clara met in a fellow league clash and the Sash appeared to have secured a 0-24 to 2-17 victory but on the back of a Clara appeal and the use of video evidence that result was overturned.
