The last jigsaw of Hazel Hennessy (pictured) has been framed and now sits proudly on the walls of Mount Carmel Care Home
Mount Carmel Care Home in Callan, County Kilkenny, has honoured the memory of a much-loved former resident, Hazel Hennessy, who passed away in August.
Known for her creativity and passion for jigsaw puzzles, Hazel’s final puzzle remained unfinished at the time of her passing.
Staff have since framed the almost-completed work, which now hangs on the care home’s wall as a lasting tribute.

The title underneath reads: 'Hazel Hennessy's Last Jigsaw 15th March 1962 - 5th August 2025'.
The tribute serves as poignant reminder of Hazel’s life and her time at Mount Carmel - as well as the impression she left on those who knew her.
Hazel was a familiar sight to all in the town, walking or with her bicycle, friendly and always ready for a quick chat when you met her.
Involved in all aspects of life in Callan, Hazel gave generously of her time to help others. She worked as a caretaker at Callan parish hall and helped out with the blood transfusion service visits there.

She also helped out in the parish and was involved with Droichead Family Resource Centre.
In the past Hazel played soccer with Callan and spent time as a local scout leader.
One friend recalled how Hazel "always had a smile and a chat for all" and another that she was a "gentle, kind person".
Expressing condolences to Hazel's family another tribute spoke about how Hazel was "a kind, caring and hardworking lady".
