Plans lodged for large telecoms tower in County Kilkenny

APW UK WIP Limited (t/a Icon Tower) has lodged a planning application with Kilkenny County Council seeking to erect a telecoms tower on a site at Donaguile, Castlecomer, County Kilkenny.
Envisioned is a 24 metre-high ‘lattice telecommunications support structure together with antennae, dishes and associated telecommunications equipment’.
The tower is to be ‘enclosed by security fencing’.
The planning application was received by the planning authority on August 28, 2026.
Subject to validation, a decision on the application is expected by October 22, 2026.
This decision timeframe may be extended if the planning authority requests further information from the applicant.
