Santa and Mrs Claus greet the Santa Truck
The arrival of the Santa Truck, supporting the Laura Lynn charity, with over a thousand runners pounding the pavements of the Medieval Mile along with a packed programme of free music and entertainment and the bustling Christmas market and antique carousel filled with families made for a fantastic second weekend of this year’s Yulefest.
The Parade area in the city core was full of locals and visitors celebrating the early part of the Christmas festivities and trade was brisk at the Christmas markets.
People came to eat Christmas treats and sample hot apple juice and punch, locally brewed beers and warming hot chocolates and coffees and to sample everything from hot dogs to churros, while mingling with friends and family.
They also enjoyed the Christmas gifts of local craft, food products and art offerings on the Mayor’s Walk and the Made in Kilkenny store (see page 50) and continued on to support the local boutiques, gift shops and countless other retail stores in the surrounding shopping streets.
