A defendant accused of having drugs in his possession for personal use and sale and supply to others had his case adjourned at a recent sitting of Kilkenny District Court.

Luke Frayne, 58 Newpark Close, Kilkenny is accused of the offences which are alleged to have taken place at his home address on April 18, 2025.

Sergeant Morgan O’Connor told the court that on the date in question gardaí executed a warrant at the address and seized a large quantity of drugs, with an estimated value of €2538 along with weighing scales in a bedroom.

The defendant has five previous convictions.

Solicitor Ed Hughes said that his client is 28-years old and suffers from depression and anxiety and used alcohol and more recently cocaine to self-medicate.

“He handed the drugs over to gardaí and made full admissions, including that he was selling drugs to his friends to make enough to feed his own habit,” said Mr Hughes.

Judge Geraldine Carthy remarked that she was ‘considering custody’.

The judge directed the preparation of a probation report and adjourned the matters before the court to June 21.
