Nora Walls

The death has occurred of Nora Walls, St. Canice’s Steps, Coach Lane, Kilkenny, formerly of New Line, Athenry. Nora passed away peacefully at the Galway Hospice on July 20, 2025. She was laid to rest at a private burial on July 22, 2025. She will be sadly missed by her mother Thérèse, her siblings An, Helen, Mark, David, Sara and Neil and by her extended family and friends. Predeceased by her beloved father John, and her brothers Conor and John.

The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care given to Nora during her stay at the Galway Hospice.

Seamus McGarry

The death has occurred of Seamus McGarry, Thomastown Road, Bennettsbridge, Co. Kilkenny Seamus (formerly of Kilkenny People Office) passed away on  July 22, 2025, peacefully at home, after a short illness, surrounded by family. Beloved wife of Eileen (née Healy) and much loved father of Angela, James, Siobhán and Samantha. Seamus will be dearly missed by his loving family, brother Thomas, sisters Eileen (McCarthy), Breda (Cleere), Ann (Kennedy) and Bernie (Nolan), son-in-law Eddie, daughter-in-law Emilie, grandchildren Darragh, Kellie and Megan, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and a wide circle of friends. Seamus is predeceased by his parents Tommy and Elizabeth, sister Maura (Carey) and daughter-in-law Vanessa.

Reposing in Johnston's Funeral Home, John's Green, Kilkenny (R95XE00) on Thursday, July 24, from 4pm to 8pm pausing for Rosary and Vigil Prayers at 6pm. Removal from his home on Friday morning to St. Bennett's Church, Bennettsbridge, arriving for Requiem Mass at 11am. Interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. House private please.

Christy O'Gorman

The death has occurred of Christy O’ Gorman, Gortfree, Kilmanagh, Co. Kilkenny, and Ballingarry (SR), Tipperary, on Tuesday,  July 22, 2025. Pre-deceased by his parents John and Margaret (Madge), his brothers Andy and Paddy, his sisters Betty, Rita, Mary (Funcheon) and Anna (Cummins) and his nephew Philip Funcheon. Beloved brother of John and James. Sadly, missed by his family, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at his home, Gortfree, Kilmanagh (Eircode R95 K400) on Thursday,  July 24, from 4.30pm. Rosary and Vigil Prayers at 7pm, followed by removal to The Church of the Assumption, Ballingarry, Thurles, Co. Tipperary. Requiem Mass on Friday,  July 25, at 11.30am with burial afterwards in Tullaroan Cemetery. A sincere thank you to the staff of St. Luke's Hospital Kilkenny, all of Christy’s Carers, The Home Support Service and South Tipperary Hospice. Family Flowers only please. Liam Grace

The death has occurred of Liam Grace, Tybroughney, Piltown, Co. Kilkenny. Liam passed away peacefully on Monday, July 21, 2025, aged 86 years. Beloved husband to Anna, he will be greatly missed by his brother-in-law Alan, Rose, nephew Michael and all his relatives, friends and neighbours. We would like to thank the staff in Cedar and Oak Wards University Hospital Waterford and Carrick-on-Suir Primary Care Centre for their help and kindness.

Arriving at the Church of the Assumption, Piltown on Thursday, July 24, for Funeral Mass at 11am, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. House privte please.

Susan Kennedy

The death has occurred of Susan Kennedy, Kilkenny / Puckane, Tipperary, who passed away unexpectedly, at her home, on July 19, 2025. Predeceased by her parents Jimmy and Rita and her adored nephew Sean Tobin. Deeply missed by her siblings Rosemary, Louise, Christopher and Caroline, her aunt Una Slattery, her brothers-in-law Michael Tobin and Tom McGurk, her nephew and niece Matthew and Sarah Tobin, her great-nephew Declan, extended family, and friends, especially Colette and Theresa at this sad time.

Funeral arriving on Thursday, July 24, to St. Patrick's Church Puckane, Nenagh (E45 Y725), for Funeral Mass at 11am, followed by burial in Killodiernan Cemetery. David (Doc) Byrne

The death has occurred of David (Doc) Byrne, St. Francis Terrace, Kilkenny City, peacefully at his home on July 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving and devoted family, following a short illness. Predeceased by his father Michael and his brother-in-law Tony. Deeply regretted by his devoted wife Trish (née Pierce) and beloved father of Lesley-Ann, Andrea, Kieran and his mother Carmel. Forever loved and missed by his son-in-law Ross, daughter-in-law Clodagh, six adored grandsons, Cian, Sean, Oisín, Killian, Odhran and Tadhg, brothers Chris, Eddie, Michael and Stephen, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, extended family, good neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Thursday 24, at 11am in St. Mary’s Cathedral, followed by burial in Foulkstown Cemetery. The Requiem Mass will be live streamed here Family flowers only please. Donations if desired to Carlow/Kilkenny Home Care Team, click donate  or Irish Cancer Society, click donate Alternatively donation box will be in Funeral Home and Church. The funeral cortége will walk from Doc’s residence on Thursday at 10.30am to St. Mary’s Cathedral. Doc’s family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation and thanks to The Carlow/Kilkenny Home Care Team and The Irish Cancer Society night nurse service for all their help and support given to Doc and his family during his illness.
