Eamon Piercy

The death has occurred of Eamon Piercy, late of Seaview Park, Tramore, Co. Waterford. Formerly of Portnahully, Co. Kilkenny and Bray, Co. Wicklow. Eamon passed peacefully on Friday, March 6, 2026. Predeceased by his beloved wife Rina, sister Anne and cherished mother Agnes and father Edward. Eamon will be sadly missed by his heartbroken daughters Olive and Mary, and his son Colm. He will be sadly missed by all his nieces and nephews, relatives, extended family, wonderful neighbours and many many friends.

Eamon will be reposing at Falconers Funeral Home, Riverstown, Tramore, Co. Waterford on Sunday, March 8, from 3pm to 5pm. All are welcome. Refreshments will be served throughout. Eamon's Requiem Mass will take place on Monday, March 9, at 10am at The Church of The Holy Cross, Tramore, Co. Waterford. Immediately after, Eamon will be laid to rest in St Declan’s Cemetery, Tramore. Matthew (Matty) Dermody

The death has occurred of Matthew (Matty) Dermody, Hampshire, UK and formerly of Kilkenny City. Matty, in his 95th year, passed away on March 2, 2026 in the loving care of Brecknock Hospice, Andover, surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of the late Mary and much loved father of Bernadette, Martin, Nance and Elizabeth. Matty will be deeply missed by his loving family, sister Teresa Dermody (Kilkenny), grandchildren Anthony, Hannah, Jonathan, Christopher and Lianne, his great grandchildren, extended family and friends. Matty is predeceased by his parents Martin and Agnes and sisters Nance, Bernadette, Mary and Patricia (Wiltshire)

Funeral Mass and interment will take place in Oakley, Hampshire at a later date.

Marty Butler

The death has occurred of Marty Butler, Moate Road, Ballyragget, Co. Kilkenny, March 7, 2026. Pre-deceased by his parents, brothers and sisters. Marty will be deeply missed by his loving family, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, great grand nieces, great grand nephews, extended family and friends. Marty was very proud of his age, he was in his 93rd year. He spent 45 years working with An Post as a postman, travelling many a mile on his bicycle.

Marty will repose at his Home in Moate Road, Ballyragget, Co. Kilkenny (R95 H6N9) from 2pm on Monday, March 9. Reposing from 3pm on Tuesday, March 10, concluding with Vigil Prayers and Rosary at 7pm. Funeral cortege arriving at St. Patrick's Church, Ballyragget on Wednesday morning for Requiem Mass at 10.30am, followed by Cremation Service in Newlands Cross Crematorium, Dublin at 1.30pm. Dermot McDermott

The death has occurred of Dermot McDermott, Linden House, Castle Street, Ballyragget, Co. Kilkenny, and formerly of Annaherin, Shercock, Co. Cavan. Dermot died on March 7, 2026, peacefully at home. Beloved husband of Carmel and much loved father of John, Gráinne and David. Dermot will be dearly missed by his loving family, his grandchildren Paddy, Fionn and Donnacha, son-in-law Padraig, daughter-in-law Joanne, brothers Patsy, Albert and Paul, sisters Evelyn, Carmel, Anne and Brigid, his aunt Maggie, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family and his wide circle of friends. Dermot is predeceased by his parents Michael and Roseanne, sisters Mary and Martina and infant brother Michael.

Reposing at his home (R95F9V4) on Wednesday, March 11, from 4pm to 8pm pausing for Prayers at 7pm. Requiem Mass on Thursday at 11am in St. Patrick’s Church, Ballyragget. Catherine (Kit) CULLEN (née McGrath)

The death has occurred of Catherine (Kit) Cullen (née McGrath), "Annagar", Waterford Road, Kilkenny. Kit passed away on  March 6, 2026, peacefully, at St Luke's Hospital Kilkenny. Beloved wife of Charlie and loving mother of Eddie, Eileen, Claire and Ray. Kit will be dearly missed by her loving family, daughter-in-law Deirdre, son-in-law Serhan, Ray's partner Eva, grandchildren Darragh, Aisling, Oisin, Eoghan, Niamh, Liam and Vesna, brother-in-law Liam, sister-in-law May, nieces, nephews, extended family, kind neighbours and friends. Kit is predeceased by her sisters Jenny, Mary and Lily and her brother Michael.

Reposing in Johnston's Funeral Home, John's Green, Kilkenny (R95XE00) on Monday, March 9, from 5pm to 7pm with Prayers recited at 6.30pm. Requiem Mass on Tuesday at 12noon in St. Patricks Church, Kilkenny. Funeral afterwards to Foulkstown Cemetery. The Requiem Mass will be live streamed here: REQUIEM MASS  Family flowers only. Martin Hayes

The death has occurred of Martin Hayes, Butts Green, Kilkenny, on March 7, 2026 (peacefully) at his home. Beloved husband of Teresa and much loved father of Martin, Catherine and Stephen. He will be sadly missed by his wife and children, brothers Jim, Eamon and Paul, sisters Peggy and Betty, daughter-in-law Shirley, son-in-law Ken, Stephen's partner Rachel, grandchildren Dale, Conor, Leanne, Nathan, Sean and Jack, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends. Martin was predeceased by his infant daughter Lesley-Ann and his brothers Johnny and Paddy.

Reposing at his home on Monday, March 9, from 3.30pm with Vigil Prayers and Rosary at 6.30pm. Requiem Mass on Tuesday at 10.30am in St. Canice's Church followed by interment in St. Kieran's Cemetery. Martin's Requiem Mass will be live streamed HERE

Dorothy Halligan (née Maher)

The death has occurred of Dorothy Halligan (née Maher), Roseville Gardens, Corbally, Limerick / formerly of Parliament Street, Kilkenny. Peacefully, at University Hospital Limerick on 6th March 2026, in the presence of her family. Predeceased by her parents, brother Peter and sister Della. Dorothy will be sadly missed by her loving family, husband Brendan, children Dearbhla, Diarmuid, Aodán, Aisling, Clodagh, Seán and Ciara, her 12 adored grandchildren, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, Susan, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Requiem Mass at St. Mary’s Church, Athlunkard Street, will take place on Monday,  March 9, at 11am. Funeral thereafter to Ballycannon Cemetery, Meelick, Co. Clare. House private please.
