Flooding on Ormonde Street today (Monday)
For the second time in the space of only three days, retailers have been forced to battle to keep raging torrents of water from entering their premises.
Long intermittent spells of torrential rain combined with thunder saw huge rainfall amounts fall on the city over a very acute time frame today, leading to widespread flooding in multiple areas of the city, similar to what occurred on Saturday.
Niall Dollard of Kilkenny Weather has revealed that Kilkenny received more than a month's worth of rain over the space of just twenty-four hours from 6pm Friday and 6pm Saturday.
"I recorded a total of 60.5mm," he told followers. Kilkenny's average for the month of June is 57.1 mm. Over a month's rain in 24 hours." It remains to be seen what today's total will be.
Met Éireann have now also included Kilkenny in a status yellow thunderstorm and rain warning, which will remain in effect until 10pm.
