Updated provided on Kilkenny road works after tragic accident last week

The Kennyswell Road in Kilkenny City

Kilkenny County Council have confirmed the R695 Kennyswell Road will be closed until 6pm this evening (Tuesday) from its junction with Dominic Street to its junction with the Ballycallan/Circular Road Roundabout in order to facilitate road surfacing works.

Improvement works resumed in the area on Monday morning following a tragic accident last week where a man in his 60s died while working on the local road.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene shortly after 11am. The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) are currently investigating.

Local diversions will be in operation and signposted.

In so far as practical whilst roadworks are in progress, local access will be facilitated but is likely to be subject to delays.

Kilkenny County Council appreciates your co-operation and apologises for any inconvenience caused.
