Kilkenny hospital to be investigated by Health Board

Kilkenny People Archive - special subcommittee has been set up by the South-Eastern Health Board to carry out an initial investigation into the working of the orthopaedic hospital, Kilkenny.

The move follows a motion by four members of the Board calling for an enquiry into ‘all aspects’ of the working of the hospital.
The initial investigation was described by the signatories of the motion as a ’responsible approach’.

It was agreed before the subcommittee began their enquiry they have a meeting with the four proposers of the motion to hear the complaints they had received.

Ald McGuinness said that at a previous meeting there had been a reference to the staff working under a cloud because of the delay in moving the motion.

But, perhaps, some of the patients also regarded themselves as being under a cloud for a long time. What the proposers wanted now was for that cloud to have a silver lining.
