A three-year, €11 million roads plan for the Callan Thomastown municipal district has been agreed by local councillors.
In what he hailed as “a great day for the district,” District Chairperson, Councillor Peter ‘Chap’ Cleere welcomed the work of the Kilkenny County Council staff and his fellow councillors to draw up and agree the work plan.
The €11 million investment in the district is significant and “worth every penny,” Cllr Cleere said.
However, he said the central government funding “is not enough to cover the scale of roads across the district, but it is a start.”
He acknowledged the work of Area Engineer, Declan Murphy, and the district councillors, on the plan, in recent weeks.
The plan was officially proposed by Cllr Michael Doyle and seconded by Cllr Stephanie Doheny.
