Heroin worth almost 1.7 million euro has been seized by gardai.
The haul came after gardai from the Carlow Drugs Initiative stopped and searched a car in the town and discovered cannabis with a street value of more than 136,000 euro on Sunday.
In a follow-up search of a house in Carlow Town, 12 kilogrammes of suspected heroin was found alongside further cannabis and tablets.
The heroin was valued at 1.68 million euro.
A woman aged in her 30s was arrested under drug trafficking legislation.
A garda spokesperson said the suspected drugs have been submitted for forensic testing and investigations are ongoing.
