Irish parents on high alert as SHEIN and TEMU recall children's toys amid strangulation fears

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has alerted parents across Ireland to urgent recalls being carried out by online retail giants SHEIN and TEMU.

A safety issue has been identified with Toy Megaphone sold by Kidzbuddy on the TEMU platform. The risk reported to the CCPC is that of strangulation as the strap attached to the toy has no quick release mechanism. If worn around the neck, it could form a loop around a child’s neck creating a strangulation hazard.

The type/number of models is Modelo ZG608 y Referencia 619-21-hong. The barcode is 10803287748. The batch number is 20240705. The Temu product identifier is 601101662718936.

There are approximately 24 affected products in the Republic of Ireland.

What to do:

Customers should stop using the product immediately and keep it out of the reach of children.

Temu has contacted affected consumers regarding this recall on behalf of the seller and assisted them with the refund process.

SHEIN is carrying out a recall of a Black Curly Cat Plush Toy sold on SHEIN marketplace by the third-party seller Shantou Baida Chuang Trading Co., Ltd.

The product presents a risk of Choking. The toy has small parts (nose) that could easily detach and a seam at the back of the toy’s head where the fibrous stuffing could become accessible. A child could put the small parts or fibrous stuffing in their mouth and choke.
