Gardai following ‘definite line of inquiry’ in fatal three-car crash

Gardai have said they are following “a definite line of inquiry” in relation to a fatal three-car crash after one of the drivers fled the scene.

A woman aged in her 30s who died following the crash in Limerick has been named locally as Aine O’Reilly.

The incident took place on the N24 near Grange West, Boher at around 11.10pm on Friday.

Ms O’Reilly, who was the only person in one of the vehicles, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man aged in his 40s, the driver and sole occupant of another car, was taken to University Hospital Limerick to be treated for injuries that are not thought to be life-threatening.

Gardai said the driver of the third car “fled”, leaving their vehicle at the crash scene.

On Sunday, Gardai said they were following “a definite line of inquiry” and thanked the public for their assistance.

They said their investigation was ongoing.
